REPORT

Partition   of India and Pakistan was one of the major events in the India’s  democratic history and I chose to explain this   sorrowful event using a poster because  a poster is a pictorial representation of the event with to the point message in it which helps the people to imagine the event more easily, remember it and understand it better .

A creative mode of expression is necessary for historical representation because such event had happened a long time ago and reading about such event may seem boring to many people and it is also difficult to remember so much information. If we express such historical events in a creative way people will show more interest to know about it and due to the creative way in which it is explained it will leave an impression on the minds of the people making it easier for people to remember and understand.

India being a country of many cultures   the division between the two different religious    beliefs had a very bad effect on many people. In the poster I have shown two girls on the either side of India’s and Pakistan’s boarded and between them is a piece of land which is referred to as “TOBA TEK SINGH”, it is also known as no man’s land because it neither belongs to Pakistan or India and it is the proof that once India and Pakistan were the same country. They are best friend of an India which was not divided. But due to the religious drift they got separated, one of them had to go to the newly formed country Pakistan and the other remained in India. This sure caused physical distance between the two girls but they were always connected. They were always connected because of the memories they had with each other when they were living in the undivided India. The religions fundamentalist could not destroy the most important value the girls had for each other, that is love and respective for each other irrespective of which religion they belonged.

This partition had caused separation of many people from their families, friends, loved once and caused a lot of riots. Millions of people migrated mostly Muslims from India and Hindus and Sikhs from Pakistan. Many people did not want to leave the land they were borne in and had lived for so many years but they were scared for the safety of themselves and their families. All this lead to the constant tension in the Indian and the Pakistan boarders leading to the death of a lot of soldier and innocent people from both the sides.  We once who were brothers   now have become enemies. If the partition had not happened then Pakistan would be still a part of India, people would not have suffered in the name of religion, large scale displacement of people would not have taken place and our soldier and many innocent families would not have died. We all could have lived in peace and harmony without any   religious prejudice.
