Partition of not only states ,countries and nations but also the partition of families  relationships , lives and friendships. Partition not only led to separation but also to destruction. The partition of India and Pakistan has led to drastic change And destruction off an entire village with millions and millions of lives.

I have imagined Toba Tek Singh To be in a place in the following context. Toba Tek Singh has been described as a village and the hardships the people underwent during the partition of India and Pakistan.

The creative expression used was a short video portraying the destruction of the village ,Toba Tek Singh , along with its population. As visual and audio plays an important role in today’s modern technology , this creative expression was opted.  The video describes the abolition of the village Toba Tek Singh. The village had a population of only 200 people. As they village was situated near the coast and was not developed,  the village faced lot of problems during floods, storms and high tides. The government of Pakistan refused to spend for a village which consisted of only 200 members.  They were forbidden from entering India too as they officially belonged to Pakistan after partition. The people of the village refused to move to another part of Pakistan as they considered their village to be their identity and their born land. As the people of the village did not agree to leave the place ,the government officials decided to destroy the entire village along with the population.  The citizens were stripped,  bashed by the government officials. Partition did not know the pain of losing their children,  They did not show mercy to a mother who had just given birth to her child and was parted away from her. They drowned the entire villagers into the ocean and destroyed the village, Toba Tek Singh. Partition has led to destruction of several lives and this is portrayed in video with visuals and suitable audio clips.

The most enjoyable assignments and projects done  always include ways for students to be creative and expressive. Expression helps students truly show who they are and how they think.

This is an  assignment that helped me to realize the importance of creativity.

Fashion and art are cyclical by nature. Trends usually skip two or three generations before making a comeback, but the latest blast from the past predates anyone alive today.

Fashion houses, web designers, musicians and photographers have recently been looking to art history for inspiration. Centuries-old art is being reinterpreted with added diversity, modern visuals and a sprinkling of satire. A creative expression is thus important as students get out of their comfort zone and They are able to bring out their creativity to portray the events of the past ,present and future.

The historical context described in the video is partition.

Partition of India and Pakistan was not only the separation of two countries but also the separation and destruction of people, lives, bonds.  The partition of India and Pakistan changed people physically and also psychologically.  This partition took place when India obtained freedom from the rule of British.

The Partition of India carries a lot of importance among Hindus and Muslims. It is an event which led to the division of India and resulted in creating two separate sovereign states, India and Pakistan. The Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs lived together in one land.   Although the partition of India took place in August 1947, the seeds of this event had already been sown in 1900 when Indian national congress refused to represent Indian Muslims rights and demands. During the British rule, the Hindus were a majority over the Muslim population which caused the British leaders to prefer Hindus over Muslims on the basis of jobs, education and business whereas Muslims were given lower jobs and salaries as compared to Hindus.

In this particular story of Toba Tek Singh, the government officials of Pakistan could have shown mercy on the people of Toba Tek Singh and made arrangements to provide essentials for the villagers. They could have brought developments in the village and helped the people in the village . The only request by the villagers was that they considered their village as their hometown and their identity and did not want to leave the place.

The story ends in grief with the death of the entire village.

Hence I title the story as `PARTITION TO DESTRUCTION ‘

                                                           THANK YOU
