REPORT
I have chosen Poster as the mode of creative expression. I have chosen this because I have done a lot of posters before and I am familiar with doing it. Poster are very attractive and has very less written content so people looking at posters will not feel bored to read or look at the poster. It will be easier for the reader to understand.
A creative mode of expression is important in historical re imagination because many people feel learning or reading history is not so fun or very boring. So with the creative mode of expression we can make people read history and enjoy reading it
During the separation of India and Pakistan, lunatics were being transferred from India to Pakistan and from Pakistan to India based on the country they belonged to in the Wagah border. Pakistan lunatics and Bishan Singh came with the officials in a truck and were ready to go to India near border but Bishan Singh believed that Toba Tek Singh was in India. The old man asked if Toba Tek Singh was in India or Pakistan. There was an officer nearby who laughed at him when he asked this question and the officer answered that Toba Tek Singh was in Pakistan. On hearing this Bishan Singh turned back and ran to his companions who were in truck to go back to Pakistan. Meanwhile the Pakistani guards caught hold of him and tried to push him into the India border but he was not ready to go to India so the Pakistani guards left him near the border and the officials did not care much about him and continued their work. The guards left without harming him. He stood near the border for fifteen years and one day he screamed and the Indian and Pakistani lunatics joined him up and there laid a man called Toba Tek Singh. Bishan Singh is involved and affected here.
In the actual climax in the story given to us, Bishan
Singh does not know where Toba Tek Singh is. Whomever he asked about it people
laughed at him and called him as Toba Tek Singh because he never used to
interact with anyone in the asylum and the only thing or question he used to
ask or tell was “Where is Toba Tek Singh?” So his fellow lunatics called him as
Toba Tek Singh. No one knew where Toba Tek Singh was. But one of the officers
told Toba Tek Singh was in Pakistan but no one allowed him to go back to
Pakistan and at the end Bishan Singh died in the middle of Indian and Pakistani
border.
According to my opinion the ending can be far
better than leaving that Bishan Singh in the border. He was in search for Toba
Tek Singh where he had lived .If the official would not leave him alone
and took him seriously he would have lived happily thereafter. But the
people in asylum are not really mad they were portrayed like lunatics by the
people around them. They could have left them free like others but they did not
do that .It was like a jail to the people living in the asylum .The reason is
because the partition could have been done in a far better way than shifting
people as soon as the partition was declared .It could be done by asking people
where they wanted to go and where they wanted to stay and where
they wanted to live with their people happily. But there was a so much
problem by this partition and after the partition also so many problems were
faced by both India and Pakistan.
If the officer would have allowed him to go
back to Pakistan, Bishan Singh would happily have lived with their family and
would not have died craving for it all the time. He would have lived a normal
life like all the other people.
