Creative
expression helps an individual to articulate their feelings and thoughts. I
have chosen the creative expression of painting and brief textual. The painting
helps in conveying the emotions, feelings and also the events which had taken
place as we do not get an idea of what would have taken place during the
historical times, it also serves as an important source in reconstructing the history of medieval India. The brief textual is used in
order to explain my content and ideology. It engages a reader, quickly allowing
them to focus on key themes and story lines. Also, as they are short in
length, it gives the less than patient reader a quick payoff.
In this creative mode of expression,
I have taken “Toba Tek Singh” as a place where a king Tek Singh ruled. The history
that I have chosen professes about cruelty, greediness, breaking of trust and how
a disastrous epilogue has the partition arising.
It also talks about peace, unity and harmony. Due to the death of the king
everything had come to an end and the partition had well taken place. Whereas,
if the guard was not greedy and guarded the king the consequences would have
taken place in a different manner.
A creative
mode of expression is a great way to convey
our thoughts quickly to a reader, without them reading through a lot of text. It can
be easily shared by other people, which means that it will be seen by a
larger audience. A creative mode of expression is important in an
historical reimagination as it would serve as a source for the readers to
connect and imagine the events that had occurred and also in reconstructing
those events. They give us a detailed account of
information concerning a specific period and about the nature of culture.
The historical context
that I have selected is about a king, who because of the trust he had on his bodyguard
lost the unity and harmony of his country by partition of “India and Pakistan”
taking place and as well lost his own life and about a bodyguard, who was so
greedy, cruel and the main objective for the king’s death and partition. At first
it is seen that the guard saves the king life from the merchants but later he
himself turns out to kill the king as he becomes greedy after he learns about
the worth of the stone ornament. The king did not want to break the unity of
his country and decided to settle the dispute by taking a group of people from
his side to talk with the mass of people, from those he had received the letter
stating about the partition, but the bodyguard of the king was so greedy and
cruel that he stopped the king from doing so, since the guard had his own mind
plot created in order to kill the king and take away the precious “stone
ornament” from him. And finally the guard succeeds in his plot against the
king, the king is dead and also the partition is not stopped and happens to
occur. Here, we can see that the good thinking of the king does not take place
and is put an end but whereas the evil thinking of the guard occurs and is also
benefited.
If the mentality of the
guard did not change in order to acquire the “stone ornament” and still cared
about the safety of his king and country then the partition would have not
taken place, and the consequences would have been totally dissimilar. If the
guard would have still stayed loyal to the king even after knowing the worth of
the stone ornament, then his plan of killing the king would have not happened
and the king would have been able to settle the dispute regarding the partition
and also “India and Pakistan” would have still stayed as one united country.
The partition was deeply scarring and traumatic, changing their
lives dramatically, uprooting them from places and communities where they had
lived. Due to the occurring of partition, India and Pakistan
faced a lot of emergencies in economy shortages, millions of deaths, people
were displaced, and also terrorism prevailed.
