Pre-independence India, sacred country
We are social animal, people in society
We are Indians, pleasure of love
We are Indians, that is we!
We were best until this whites made us worst
Yesterday we were brothers
Today we are strangers
Never thought to be enemies tomorrow!
Been a long time being together
Religious hatred sowed it’s seeds
Brothers broke to part
This broke the hearts!
OH Allah! I don’t want Pakistan
OH Bhagwan! I don’t Want India
OH Jesus ! Make me independent
OH Onkar ! Where should I go!
True love fed at Lahore
Boy, why ain’t I Pakistani
Girl, why ain’t I Indian
This makes us apart, fake religion!
Poor little man with a small property
Poor Bishan Singh became homeless
Family left, relatives never came
Tabo Tek Singh in tragedy!
I had a question, no one solved
I said India, Pakistani’s threatened
I said Pakistan, my heart threatened
I lived here, Toba Tek Singh!
Bishan Singh knowing to been
In Pakistan, ran to crowd
Guards pushed him back
Finally joined Indian lunatics!
Report:
I write this poem being in the place of people during independence. This was the time where many lost their lives to give us freedom. When we successfully got freedom we dint use it in a better way. We split the whole country into many parts. Many lost lives, many gave upon lives. People became homeless. Many were forced to migrate. Pakistan started giving priority to Muslims and India to everyone. Sikhs and others having no ways had to join any of these two countries. During this time Toba Tek Singh had no place to join in. It was in confuse whether it belonged to India or Pakistan.
This is history , which was also a mistory to many.
